STURRIDGE ON TRIAL WITH MALLORCA

Daniel Sturridge is on trial with newly promoted Spanish La Liga team Real Mallorca with the aim of earning a contract with the club. England international Sturridge has not been without a club for over a year but that run could end if he impresses Mallorca officials. Daniel Sturridge was given an invitation to train with the team as part of the preparations for the new La Liga season which starts with an home game against Real Betis on August 14.

Mallorca released a statement earlier this week about Daniel Sturridge and the invitation for trial that was extended to him.

Daniel Sturridge has struggled to stay at the top of the football chain since leaving Liverpool two years ago. The Englishman spent more than six years at Anfield before leaving at the end of his contract in 2019. He went on to join Turkish team Trabzonspor on a free transfer. Sturridge ended his Liverpool career as an unused substitute as the Reds sealed the Champions League title by beating Tottenham Hotspur during the 2019 Champions League final.

Sturridge was a fans’ favourite during his time at Liverpool especially in the 2013/14 season when he scored 21 league goals as Liverpool came close to winning the Premier League. In total, Daniel Sturridge scored 31 goals for the Reds that season. The former Bolton Wanderers, Manchester City and Chelsea striker was unable to maintain the form from the 2013/14 campaign as injuries took a toll on him and also reduce his appearances for Liverpool. His last major contribution for Liverpool came in September 2018 when he scored a long range effort to rescue a point for his team via a 1-1 draw at the home of Chelsea. The strike against the Blues earned him the Goal of the Month Award for September 2018.
