STURRIDGE LEAVES PERTH WITH NO GOALS

England striker Daniel Sturridge has left Perth Glory in the Australian top flight after failing to make the desired impact at the club. Perth Glory fans and officials were excited about what was to come when the club signed Daniel Sturridge as a free agent in October, but their lofty expectations and hopes were gradually dashed with each passing day of his time at the club. The Ex-Liverpool and Bolton Wanderers striker has now ended his injury-hit time in Australia.

Daniel Sturridge started just once for Perth Glory in the Australian A-league and he played six times in total. He made just one start and five substitute appearances at Perth as he failed to register a goal or an assist. Sturridge missed 14 games as a result of a groin injury. LIVERPOOL WANT TO SIGN PLAYER WHO ‘PLAYS LIKE STURRIDGE’

According to Daily Mail, Watford striker Joao Pedro has caught the attention of Premier League giants, Liverpool, ahead of the 2022 summer transfer window. The Reds are coming off an excellent season that saw them do the domestic cup double of the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup. They fell agonisingly short in the Premier League title race and suffered a heartbreaking loss to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final.

While there are reasons for much optimism at Anfield, Jurgen Klopp and co. will need to knuckle down and rebuild a side that has impressed over the last few years. One of the major pieces of Klopp’s jigsaw at Liverpool, Mane is set to call time on his stint at the club after six glorious seasons on Merseyside.

The Senegalese international’s departure will leave a void in the Reds’ attack, and Liverpool cannot afford to go into the new campaign without a new recruit in the position. A player potentially earmarked as a replacement by Liverpool is Watford striker Pedro. Continue reading LIVERPOOL WANT TO SIGN PLAYER WHO ‘PLAYS LIKE STURRIDGE’

STURRIDGE WRONG WITH FA CUP PREDICTIONS

Perth Glory striker Daniel Sturridge didn’t make a correct prediction on the FA Cup clash between Chelsea and Liverpool last weekend after Sadio Mane failed to score during the game. Daniel Sturridge had earlier revealed on his Twitter account that he fancies a Mane goal.

Daniel Sturridge also predicted that Liverpool will have too much quality for Chelsea during the final. Chelsea were able to hold their own as they prevented Senegalese international Mane and his teammates from finding the back of the net in 120 minutes. NOTTINGHAM FOREST OWNED 30-YEAR-OLD STARS ON LOAN

Carl Jenkinson was a signing formed part of the scattergun transfer approach adopted by Ioannis Vrentzos at Nottingham Forest. He joined the clubs in 2019 from Arsenal where he had spent 11 years and earned himself a solitary England cap. In January, the right-back departed the City Ground after struggling to make an impact on the first team at the club.

He joined Melbourne City on loan, with the defender likely to sign for the club permanently during the summer. Jenkinson will be out of contract on Trentside when the summer comes around and his future at Forest looks bleak. His form at Melbourne has been pretty good though and remarkably he’s managed to stay injury-free.

On Thursday, he found the bet for the third time during his time in Australia and their fans seem to love him. His goal came during a 2-1 win over Jeonnam Dragons in the AFC Champions League and Melbourne are on course to qualify for the knockout stages. Jenkinson has remarkably scored more goals than Daniel Sturridge. The ex-Liverpool man is playing for Perth Glory in the same league as the Forest-owned player but is actually yet to score.

Spending £2 million on Jenkinson was always going to be a risk. Although he was on Arsenal’s books he made 70 appearances in 11 years at the North London-based club. Forest will be glad to get Jenkinson off their books in the summer. He will be on a sizeable wage and naturally, that will give the Reds more room to manoeuvre when it comes to new recruits. The Reds must stop making these sort of transfers in the future. Jenkinson came on the back of a tragic record with injuries and all parties have struggled as a result. Jenkinson is clearly enjoying his football in Australia and heading there permanently is likely to be something he would consider.

LIVERPOOL COULD REPEAT STURRIDGE FEAT AGAIN

Merseyside giants Liverpool could reportedly repeat the Daniel Sturridge feat again by making a move for a player from one of their top-six rivals in the Premier League. Apart from Liverpool, the other top-six teams are Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool made a big gamble when they signed Daniel Sturridge from Chelsea in January 2012 while Northern Irishman Brendan Rodgers was the manager. The Reds paid £12m to signSturridge from Chelsea. His best season at Liverpool was his first full season at Anfield.

During the 2013/14 season, Daniel Sturridge scored 21 goals as Liverpool came close to winning the Premier League title for the first time in over two decades. Sturridge was the second topscorer in the Premier League behind Liverpool teammate Luis Suarez during the same season. Sturridge and Liverpool led the league until the final three games of the season before an average return of four points from the last three games ensured that the Reds lost the title to the Manuel Pellegrini-led Manchester City team. STURRIDGE TIPS NEW LIVERPOOL STAR TO SHINE

New Liverpool signing Luis Diaz has continued to be topped to shine at Anfield by former and present Reds players following his move from FC Porto in the January winter transfer window. He has since been lauded by former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge, who has also praised the transfer chiefs at Anfield for the January signing.
Diaz had been pursued by both Liverpool and Tottenham in the months leading up to the winter transfer window. Tottenham held talks with Porto over the left winger’s capture but Jurgen Klopp’s side marched in to win the race. The Reds confirmed his signing on January 30 in a deal worth an initial £37.5million. It could rise to £50m if certain bonuses are met.

The Colombian attacker has already featured in the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup for the Reds. STURRIDGE PRAISES LIVERPOOL HIERARCHY ON DIAZ

Perth Glory FC of Australia striker Daniel Sturridge has commended the Liverpool hierarchy over the signing of Colombian attacker Luis Diaz from Portuguese club FC Porto last month. Daniel Sturridge took to his official Twitter account to appreciate senior Liverpool officials for pulling off the Diaz transfer amidst the interest from fellow Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur. Sturridge specially mentioned Liverpool officials Julian Ward and Mike Gordon for the work they did to sign the Colombian international.

Ex-Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has been impressed with the signing of Diaz despite the fact that he has played a handful of matches for the club.According to him, Diaz looks like a top player before he borrowed a quote from Scottish manager Owen Coyle to say that the new Liverpool signing is as sharp as a tack.

Luis Diaz made his Liverpool debut during the FA Cup fourth round tie with Welsh team Cardiff City. The new signing impressed on the occasion of his first Liverpool game as the Reds saw off the English Championship team to book their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup. They will now face bottom Premier League team Norwich City in the fifth round for a place in the quarterfinals. Diaz came on as a 58th minute substitute for young English midfielder Curtis Jones during the 3-1 home win over Cardiff City. The Reds scored their goals through Diogo Jota, Takumi Minamino and substitute Harvey Elliott, while young Welsh midfielder Rubin Colwill scored the lone goal for the visitors.

Luis Diaz has scored one goal in four appearances in all competitions for Liverpool since he joined the club last month.

STURRIDGE REMINISCES ON STUNNING STRIKE

Perth Glory striker Daniel Sturridge went down memory lane as he remembered his stunning strike during the Premier League clash with former club Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the colours of Liverpool. Daniel Sturridge took to his official Twitter handle to reminisce on the goal just before his former teams met at the same venue earlier this month.

Liverpool players have scored sensational goals against Chelsea in the Premier League over the years and the one produced by England striker Daniel Sturridge was the best of the lot. Other players such as Mohamed Salah and club skipper Jordan Henderson have scored very good goals against Chelsea in the league over the past few years.

During the league meeting between hosts Chelsea and Liverpool three years, Daniel Sturridge scored a stunner in the last minute of the game to rescue the Reds from defeat after Belgian playmaker Eden Hazard had given Chelsea the lead in the first half. The late goal from Sturridge ensured that the two teams settled for a 1-1 draw.

Sturridge was a regular goalscorer for Liverpool whenever he’s fit until his time at the club ended in 2019. Injuries didn’t allow him fulfil his talents wholly at Liverpool whom he joined from Chelsea in January 2012. His best season for the Reds was when he scored 21 league goals during the 2013/14 season. He was the second highest goalscorer behind Luis Suarez (31 goals) as Liverpool came close to winning the Premier League title that season before they were piped to it by Manchester City in the last few games.

For the latest meeting between Chelsea and Liverpool at Stamford Bridge in the league, the two teams shared four goals in a game that ended in a 2-2 draw. Liverpool would be incensed after they let a two-goal lead slip to draw the game.

STURRIDGE LEFT FRUSTRATED AFTER PERTH BLOW

England striker Daniel Sturridge has been left frustrated after his Perth Glory side were dealt a big blow in relation to Covid-19. Daniel Sturridge has had to wait longer for his first start in the colours of his new Australian A-league club after him and his teammates were forced to isolate for two weeks.

An unnamed Perth Glory player tested positive for Covid-19 and that prompted officials to tell Daniel Sturridge and the rest of the squad to quarantine for two weeks in a hotel. To this effect, the games involving Perth Glory were suspended.

Perth Glory have missed out on two games since the players went into isolation earlier this month and they are expected to return to action against Sydney FC on Sunday, January 2, 2022. Daniel Sturridge would be hoping that he can make hisfirst start for Perth Glory when they take on Sydney FC at the start of next week.

Ex-Liverpool, Bolton Wanderers and Manchester City striker Sturridge signed for Perth Glory as a free agent in October and he has been building his fitness levels since then in a bid to be ready for his first start. He was on the verge of making his first start when the Perth Glory squad were hit with the abovementioned quarantine news. This is the more reason why Sturridge was left frustrated as he has been made to wait for a first Perth Glory start.

Sturridge is determined to make the most of his chance at Perth Glory after he spent over a year withouta club. He was without a clubsince his contract with Turkish Super League side Trabszonsporwas terminated in March 2020 on the back of his suspension from football by the FA for breaching betting rules. The Englishman had joined the Turkish team just after the release fromLiverpool two years ago.
