Daniel Sturridge major blow to Liverpool

Liverpool have been given a major blow with the news that Daniel Sturridge will miss another six weeks of action due to yet another injury.

The forward has not played for the club since suffering a thigh injury while on international duty with England back in September. He has represented Liverpool in only three league matches this campaign. His absence is seen as one of the main reasons for the club struggling to score goals. The Reds have slipped to 11th position in the table after the latest defeat against Chelsea just before the international break.

Brendan Rodgers was very confident of getting Sturridge back in the starting line-up for the Sunday’s trip to Crystal Palace. The 25-year-old, who signed a new contract worth around £ 150,000 per week only a few months ago, has suffered yet another thigh injury in the same left leg that was causing him problems in September. Liverpool confirmed the bad news in a statement. Sturridge may not return until 2015. Due to the injury concern surrounding the star asset, Liverpool are reportedly ready to make contingency plans in January by buying a new striker at recalling Divock Origi from his loan spell.

Rodgers recently said that Sturridge may not be regarded as a world-class striker unless he plays often and scores goals.”Liverpool Football Club today confirmed scans have revealed Daniel Sturridge has sustained a new thigh injury. The player will remain unavailable for selection but will be monitored and assessed during his recovery,” said a statement on the Liverpool’s official site.

Liverpool’s form has nosedived in the absence of Sturridge. The likes of Lambert, Mario Balotelli, and Fabio Borini are yet to open their account in the Premier league this season. Liverpool have lost their last three matches in all competitions and they also have a crucial Champions League match on Wednesday.

Pellegrini disappointed in result against Roma

Manchester City recently played against As.Roma in their Champions League group stages match that ended in a 1-1 draw as Sergio Aguero opened up the scoreboard at the 4th minute of the game but a few moments later a superb finish from Francesco Totti equalized the score.

Both sides collected 1 point from the game but Manuel Pellegrini did not hesitate in letting the world know that he was disappointed in the performance from his players as the Chilean manager believes that they could have played much better and even claimed the victory against the Italian club.

Manchester City’s Manuel Pellegrini said: “We did not play very well, especially in the first half. Maybe we were not accurate in our passing and when we lost too many balls, we did not have enough midfielders to recover’’
“I think the most problem was we lost possession from many easy passes. When the other team scores a goal, it is not just a problem of one or two players. Totti had too much space in that play. We didn’t play in the way we normally play to score a goal. We have 12 more points to fight for and we will fight to the end to try and qualify.”
Manchester City is currently located in the 3rd spot of Group E with 1 point collected so far. The Premier League club will be travelling to the Khimki Arena on October 21 to face off with CSKA Moskva and they will need to secure a victory if the English side wants to have any hopes alive on advancing through the next stages of the Champions League.

Bayern Munich is at the top of Group E as they still have not lost a single match and they are expected to progress without much trouble but the 2nd spot will be tightly disputed between As.Roma and Manchester City.

Sturridge Confident Liverpool Can Challenge For Titles

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has expressed his confidence that the club will be able to start challenging for titles in the coming seasons after finishing second in the Premier League last season. The second place finish was a major boost to Liverpool, who have been finishing lower than sixth in the last few seasons. Signings like Sturridge and Coutinho have been a major influence on the Liverpool team during the last two years. A few doubts have been raised about Sturridge’s ability to replace Luis Suarez as the key striker.

Signings like Sturridge and Coutinho have been a major influence on the Liverpool team during the last two years. A few doubts have been raised about Sturridge’s ability to replace Luis Suarez as the key striker.

Suarez was sold to Barcelona for around £75 million and the forward had scored 31 league goals last season. Sturridge put aside those doubts in the opening match against Southampton after securing a late winner. He showed the predatory instincts that made a great strikers like Michael Owen and Robbie Fowler at Liverpool. Liverpool have spent close to £ 100 million in the summer in order to strengthen the squad in various areas of the pitch. Manager Brendan Rodgers has accepted that the increased number of matches due to the Champions League involvement means that the squad has to be strong to cope with the tiredness, injuries, and suspensions.

Liverpool are still believed to be in the transfer market looking for strikers and Sturridge says that the club can become a force with these additions. “We were heartbroken last season but we have got ourselves mentally ready, especially with the Champions League. That is something I can’t wait to play in, nor can anyone else here. It took a while to get over last season. It’s not easy to get over something like that, it’s not easy at all, but we are over it and we are looking forward to the future. God willing, we will bring success to the club,” said Sturridge.

Sturridge Set To Becomes Liverpool’s Key Player

With Luis Suarez on the verge of being signed by Barcelona, Daniel Sturridge is all set to become Liverpool’s key player this summer.

If the reports are to be believed, the Reds would be announcing the departure of Suarez pretty soon. It means that during the next season Brendan Rodgers’ attacking line would consist of only the English players with Sturridge being the most dynamic of them. So, it’s quite obvious that he would be used in the role of the central striker.

So, it’s quite obvious that he would be used in the role of the central striker.

There is no doubt that it was Suarez who had won a lot of matches for Liverpool and had emerged as a superstar in the last season, but, Sturridge was not too far behind him either. He also had 25 goals under his belt during the season and that’s why, Rodgers is backing him to be able to lead the offensive line quite successfully.

However, it might also happen that Rodgers brings in a couple of foreign strikers or attacking midfielders with the transfer fund that he is going to get from Suarez deal.

Alexis Sanchez, the Chilean forward, who was absolutely brilliant for his national side in the World Cup in Brazil, is believed to have impressed Rodgers a lot and he might try to land him at Anfield.

However, with Gunners also interested in Sanchez, it would be hard for Rodgers to seal that particular deal.

As far as Suarez is concerned, Barcelona is understood to have offered him a salary which is lower than what he is currently getting at Liverpool, but, he has accepted it and that’s because he wants to spend the next few years of his career in Catalonia only.

If nothing dramatic happens from here, Suarez should be transferred to Barcelona next week.

Selling Daniel Sturridge was a mistake, says Chelsea legend Lampard

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard believes the club might as well be ruing a moment of madness when they sold Daniel Sturridge to Liverpool.

The striker moved to the Premier League rivals in the January transfer window in 2013 for a fee reported to be around £ 12 million after becoming disillusioned at the lack of playing time at Stamford Bridge as well as being played out of position when given a chance.

But the 24 year old has been a revelation at Anfield since then, scoring 31 goals in just 43 matches for the Reds in one and half seasons.

But the 24 year old has been a revelation at Anfield since then, scoring 31 goals in just 43 matches for the Reds in one and half seasons.

Lampard believes it a huge judgmental error from Chelsea, with whom he recently ended a thirteen year long association, and believes this error of judgment is sure to benefit England at this summer’s World Cup in Brazil.

Lampard stated that he feels pleased for Daniel Sturridge because he knows he grew frustrated at the lack of playing time given to him at the club when he believed he deserved some more time.

The England veteran added that the youngster felt that he was not being played in a position where he could contribute from and it turned out to be a good move for him when he went to Liverpool. Lampard went on to add that as an individual as well as for Liverpool, it was a great move as the player has gone from strength to strength as time has passed.

Daniel Sturridge is expected to lead the line for Roy Hodgson and England at the World Cup as he looks to freshen things up and give him an option apart from the on and off Wayne Rooney and with the kind of form that he is in, Sturridge could hold the key for England as they bid to progress from a difficult group.

Sturridge Apologises To Fans For Failure

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has come out with an apology to the fans after his team failed to win the league title. Liverpool came very close to winning the league title, which would be their first since 1990. However, a defeat against Chelsea and a 3-3 draw with Crystal Palace effectively ended their hopes of a title. It was confirmed after Manchester city lifted the crown following a 2-0 win over West Ham. Liverpool went into the final match of the season against Newcastle with only a slim hope of winning the title. It soon went away after the news came through that Nasri had scored for City.

Some Liverpool players have taken consolation with the fact that they have managed to finish second in the table. This position also means that they will go straight into the Champions League group stages. This was the mission of this team at the start of the season. They had finished in seventh and eighth places in the last two campaigns. This was the closest the club had come to winning the first league title in 24 years. They finished second in the 2008-09 season, but the title race was over several matches before the end of the season in that instance.

Sturridge finished the season as the second-highest scorer in the division.

“I know we set the target of reaching the Champions League but I can’t stand here and say I’m happy. I am gutted. I know we’ve gone from seventh to second but I am never happy coming second no matter what I’m playing, whether it’s table tennis, cricket or whatever, I don’t like losing. I’ll do everything in my power, just like my team-mates will, to try to ensure we do that for them next season,” said the England international.
