PERTH GLORY: STURRIDGE SUFFERS THIRD SETBACK

English striker Daniel Sturridge made a big decision when he signed for Perth Glory in the Australian top flight last year October on the back of almost two years without a club. Ideally, Daniel Sturridge would have loved to stay in Europe, but he decided to move to Australia in his bid to start playing professional football once again. Some weeks before the Perth Glory transfer, rumours of a transfer to Real Mallorca in the Spanish La Liga heightened for Daniel Sturridge when he was pictured in training with the team. In the end, the striker was forced to continue his search for a new club after Mallorca failed to sign him.


Sturridge, 32, signed a one-year deal at Perth Gloryfive months ago and his arrival sparked keen interest in the Australian league amongst Liverpool fans and other football stakeholders. It was seen as a major transfer coup for Perth Glory who had finished ninth out of 12 teams at the end of the 2019/20 season in the Australian A-league. STURRIDGE TIPS NEW LIVERPOOL STAR TO SHINE

New Liverpool signing Luis Diaz has continued to be topped to shine at Anfield by former and present Reds players following his move from FC Porto in the January winter transfer window. He has since been lauded by former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge, who has also praised the transfer chiefs at Anfield for the January signing.
Diaz had been pursued by both Liverpool and Tottenham in the months leading up to the winter transfer window. Tottenham held talks with Porto over the left winger’s capture but Jurgen Klopp’s side marched in to win the race. The Reds confirmed his signing on January 30 in a deal worth an initial £37.5million. It could rise to £50m if certain bonuses are met.


The Colombian attacker has already featured in the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup for the Reds. He is adapting well to Liverpool’s system and got his first goal in the 3-1 victory over Norwich on Saturday. Diaz was sent through on goal by an incisive Jordan Henderson pass and proceeded to beat goalkeeper Angus Gunn with a delicate chipped finish. STURRIDGE PRAISES LIVERPOOL HIERARCHY ON DIAZ

Perth Glory FC of Australia striker Daniel Sturridge has commended the Liverpool hierarchy over the signing of Colombian attacker Luis Diaz from Portuguese club FC Porto last month. Daniel Sturridge took to his official Twitter account to appreciate senior Liverpool officials for pulling off the Diaz transfer amidst the interest from fellow Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur. Sturridge specially mentioned Liverpool officials Julian Ward and Mike Gordon for the work they did to sign the Colombian international.

Ex-Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has been impressed with the signing of Diaz despite the fact that he has played a handful of matches for the club.According to him, Diaz looks like a top player before he borrowed a quote from Scottish manager Owen Coyle to say that the new Liverpool signing is as sharp as a tack.

Luis Diaz made his Liverpool debut during the FA Cup fourth round tie with Welsh team Cardiff City. The new signing impressed on the occasion of his first Liverpool game as the Reds saw off the English Championship team to book their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup. They will now face bottom Premier League team Norwich City in the fifth round for a place in the quarterfinals. Diaz came on as a 58th minute substitute for young English midfielder Curtis Jones during the 3-1 home win over Cardiff City. The Reds scored their goals through Diogo Jota, Takumi Minamino and substitute Harvey Elliott, while young Welsh midfielder Rubin Colwill scored the lone goal for the visitors.

Luis Diaz has scored one goal in four appearances in all competitions for Liverpool since he joined the club last month.
