STURRIDGE REVEALS HIS BEST MANAGER

Former Premier League player Daniel Sturridge has revealed the best manager during his football career. He talked about the best manager in a recent interview he did as reported by the player himself on his Twitter account. According to him, he was asked about his best manager before he went on to praise Owen Coyle whom he described as a father from another lifetime. The former Manchester City striker also sent his love to the family of the ex-Bolton Wanderers boss.

Daniel Sturridge was full of admiration for Coyle and the way he treated him when he played for him in the colours of Bolton Wanderers during the second half of the 2010/11 Premier League season. He enjoyed the most profilic spell of his career under then Bolton Wanderers boss Coyle netting eight goals in 12 games on the back of his loan spell from Chelsea. Sturridge had left Chelsea to join Bolton Wanderers during the 2011 winter transfer window. His goals ensured that Bolton Wanderers escaped relegation from the Premier League at the end of the 2010/11 campaign via a 14th place finish.

England international Daniel Sturridge returned to Chelsea in the summer of 2011 and spent just one year and six months at Stamford Bridge before signing a permanent deal for Liverpool under Brendan Rodgers in January 2013. He went on to score 68 goals in 160 games for the Reds during his time at Anfield. Sturridge spent some time on loan at West Bromwhile he was at Liverpool.

Sturridge left Liverpool as a free agent in 2019 shortly after the club won the Champions League title at the expense of North London club Tottenham Hotspur whom they beat in the final. He went on to sign for Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super League on a free transfer after his exit from Liverpool.

STURRIDGE LOVES AND MISSES LIVERPOOL

Daniel Sturridge has revealed how he feels about Merseyside outfit Liverpool after the England international confessed that he loves and misses the club. Daniel Sturridge expressed his feelings towards Liverpool when he quoted a tweet of his video while he was still playing for the Reds.

Liverpool ended their association with Daniel Sturridge at the end of the 2018/19 season. His last major act as a Liverpool player was in the 2019 Champions League final. The Englishman was in the Reds squad that beat Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur to win the Champions League title and end the club’s seven-year wait for a major trophy.

Daniel Sturridge was on the bench for the whole of that 2019 Champions League final which ended in a 2-0 win for his team. Egyptian player Mohamed Salah scored from the penalty spot in the opening minutes of the game after Spurs midfielder Mohamed Sissoko had been penalised in the box before Belgian national team striker DivockOrigi came off the bench to settle the game in the Reds favour in the final ten minutes.

Sturridge signed for Trabzonspor in the top flight in Turkey on a free transfer shortly after the end of his Liverpool contract. He was at the club until March last year when his contract was rescinded after the ban imposed on him by the English Football Association (FA) for flouting betting rules. The England international has been without a club since his return from the four-match ban imposed on him by the English FA.

Daniel Sturridge has been linked with a lot of clubs in both the Premier League and the Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States but nothing has come out of those transfer links till date.

Apart from Liverpool and Trabzonspor, Sturridge has also played for Chelsea, West Brom, Manchester City and Bolton Wanderers.

LIVERPOOL FANS REFLECT ON FORMER PLAYER

Some Liverpool fans have reflected on former player Daniel Sturridge and his time at the club. The Reds faithfuls took to their various Twitter account to talk about the Englishman and how he was underrated during his time at Anfield.

The Liverpool fans also pointed out that Daniel Sturridge would have been a better player if not for his attitude.

The Reds signed Daniel Sturridge from West London giants Chelsea for a fee of €15m in the winter transfer window of January 2013. He went on to score 68 goals plus 23 assists in 160 matches for the Merseyside giants.

Daniel Sturridge produced his best season for Liverpool during the 2013/14 campaign, which was his first full season at the club. He was one of the main actors as Liverpool came close to winning the Premier League title that season before losing the title to Manchester City in the final three games.

Sturridge scored 21 goals during that Premier League season and only Liverpool teammate Luis Suarez scored more than him over the course of the season. Uruguayan international Suarez scored 31 goals that season.

In his last act as a Liverpool player, Daniel Sturridge made the bench for the Champions League final against Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the 2018/19 campaign. He was an unused substitute as the Reds beat Spurs 2-0 in Madrid to end their long trophy drought. It was the first major trophy for the Reds in seven years since winning the 2012 Carabao Cup title.

Sturridge left Liverpool at the end of his contract in 2019 and he went on to sign as a free transfer for Trabzonsporin the Turkish Super League. He has been without a club for over a year since his release from the contract he signed at Trabzonspor.
