Liverpool are set for a grand opening to the Premier League as they take on title rivals Arsenal as early as in the first weekend. It is already billed as the best ever opening to a league campaign, but it seems that Klopp will be struggling to field his best starting line-up due to injuries. His counterpart Arsene Wenger is also experiencing similar problems but in the defensive area of the pitch.Klopp says that Sturridge is still touch and go for the opening game against Arsenal.

Since his arrival to Anfield,Klopp has had a patch a relationship with Sturridge. Even though the former Borussia Dortmund manager has been blown away by the goalscoring abilities of the former Chelsea and Manchester City forward, his injury record has been a huge concern.Klopp has openly claimed that Sturridge should learn to avoid niggling injuries and play through the pain barrier if he is to become a true great. After missing the recent friendly games against Mainz and Barcelona due to a new injury problem, Sturridge may not to start against Arsenal.

It has been revealed that the England international has a hip injury.“No idea [Sturridge featuring against Arsenal]. That’s a two-word answer! I’m always ready. We played some games that were very good, others that were less good.Barcelona was really good and then we had Mainz, and that is what you need. You have to work and that is all. That is what we are doing. We will be ready for the first game next week, for sure. But if Arsenal was the best game of the season for us, there would be something wrong with the season,” said Klopp.

DANIEL STURRIDGE SET TO PROVE HIMSELF THIS SEASON

Daniel Sturridge is set to prove himself this season as a player that has an average of a goal every 122 minutes.

Coach Jurgen Klopp is keen on giving the player an opportunity to stay on as the first choice forward and even admires the player but the coach is one for whom assumptions can’t be made.

Sturridge became the major hero at the club since Luiz Suarez left the club and moved to Barcelona. The former Blues forward was most impressive when the club was almost sure to lift the Premier League in the 2013/2014 season. He scored 24 goals in 33 games but has now lost his most revered spot to Philippe Coutinho in the past two seasons. With the performance Coutinho put up and other players set to join the team, Sturridge has to step up to remain the top man in front.

Sturridge is turning 27 in the next few months and with Klopp teams known for their high intensity, the laid back character the player is known for could work against him. He has returned with his mates to the club’s training camp in California, USA.

Liverpool is set to play in the International Champions Cup ahead of the new season. The new signings Ragnar Klavan, Marko Grujic and Sadio Mane are among those training already as The Reds have a lot to achieve after getting close to a title twice in the last campaign.

There are possibilities that the side will play against Chelsea, Milan and AS Roma in the United States as they prepare for the new season which will be the first full season for the former Dortmund manager. Liverpool will have limited distractions as they will not be playing in Europe in the forthcoming season.
